Southwest Airlines is expanding its network with 23 new and returning nonstop routes scheduled to launch between August 2026 and February 2027. The additions include 21 domestic routes and two international services, giving travelers more options across the U.S., Mexico, and Costa Rica.
Among the highlights are new nonstop flights from Long Beach to Portland and Seattle, Burbank to Honolulu, Las Vegas to Puerto Vallarta, and Las Vegas to San José, Costa Rica. The airline is also adding several routes from Austin, including service to Knoxville, Memphis, Destin-Fort Walton Beach, and Santa Rosa.
Three of the announced routes will be brand-new nonstop markets that Southwest has never operated before:
Austin – Santa Rosa, California
Nashville – Reno, Nevada
Las Vegas – San José, Costa Rica
The remaining additions include a mix of returning routes that Southwest previously served and new opportunities designed to strengthen connections through growing airports such as Austin, Nashville, and Denver.
Travelers planning trips later this year or in early 2027 may want to check fares early, as new route launches are often accompanied by promotional pricing.
The Takeaway: Southwest's latest expansion adds 23 nonstop routes across the U.S. and beyond, creating more options for travelers while introducing three completely new nonstop markets.
